The first initiative on the stone

The Swarnkar Initiative

A community initiative applying the KASAUTI method to the upliftment of the Swarnkar community — education, skills, enterprise and leadership — beginning with the Maidh Kshatriya Swarnkar community in India and its global diaspora.

पहली परीक्षा हम खुद देते हैं।
We take the first test ourselves.

The goldsmith tests his own gold first. Before KASAUTI asks any community to trust its method, the community whose craft gave the stone its name puts itself on it — a published baseline, real pilots, results in the open, whether they flatter us or not.

Why this community first

The kasauti comes from the goldsmith’s bench. For the Soni / Swarnkar / Sonar community, testing before trusting is not a method borrowed from elsewhere — it is the family craft. The first initiative begins here for honest reasons: this is where the founder has standing to convene, access to listen, and — most importantly — a community that can hold him accountable.

The vision

A confident, thriving Swarnkar community — educated, skilled, enterprising and connected across the world — and, through its example, proof that the method works: a tested model of community development that any community can take up after us.

On the record

The first commitment

Every initiative on the register declares its commitment publicly. This is ours.

Phase one · Prove
Maidh Kshatriya Swarnkar

Deep engagement with one community: a published baseline, real pilots, measurable outcomes — a genuine case study, not a vague mission.

Phase two · Extend
Soni · Swarnkar · Sonar, worldwide

What stands the test extends across the broader goldsmith family in India and the global diaspora.

Phase three · Share
All communities

Models, tools and evidence handed back to the register, published openly for any community to use.

The work

What the initiative is doing now

In design

State of the Swarnkar Community

The initiative’s flagship baseline — education, skills, occupations, enterprise, aspirations — across India and the diaspora, held to KASAUTI’s research standards.

Running now

VICHAR dialogues

Community-focused dialogues within VICHAR — surfacing the questions the baseline must answer and the people who will carry the work.

With the charter

Field partnerships

Delivery in the field runs through the community’s own trusted institutions — to be announced with the founding charter, as partners, never owners.

Held to the framework

This initiative leans on KASAUTI — not the other way around. It adopts the charter, follows the method, and submits its research to the framework’s standards: honest baselines, pre-registered pilots, failures published as prominently as successes. If the initiative ever fails those standards, the framework says so publicly — that is the point of the stone.

The initiative needs researchers, community organisations with reach, VICHAR voices and volunteers for the baseline — in India and across the diaspora. Write to [email protected] or see how to get involved.
